Tyler Beck graduated from Ohio University in 2015, where he played Division I baseball as a catcher.  Tyler grew up in Avon Lake, Ohio and attended Avon Lake high school, where he was a two-time first-team Mizuno All-Ohio baseball player. He was also named the Division I Lorain County player of the year in 2011 and was named first team to the All-Northeast-Ohio, All-Lorain County, and All-Southwestern Conference teams during his junior and senior years. Tyler set the Avon Lake high school batting average record and was recruited by several colleges, including Ohio University, the University of Michigan, Miami University, the University of Toledo, Cleveland State University, and Wayne State University.

During high school and college, Tyler was trained by several professional athletes, including Joe Charboneau, Neal French, Clint Nageotte, and Johnny Damon. All of these players had a positive influence on his life and helped to advance his game to the next level. Prior to moving to Charleston, Tyler served as a catching and hitting instructor at T3 Performance in Cleveland, Ohio.

After graduating from Ohio University, Tyler moved to Charleston to pursue an M.D./Ph.D dual degree at the Medical University of South Carolina. Tyler believes that student-athletes must be students first, and that the sport of baseball can teach you a lot about what it takes to be successful in the classroom and in all aspects of life. “Not only do I have a deep understanding of the game of baseball, but I also understand what it takes to be a successful student-athlete. Baseball has taught me a variety of important life lessons including structure, teamwork, mental endurance, and how to cope with failure. These are lessons that I hope to pass on to those whom I train.”
